“I posted it because I thought it was ironic since older people always expect respect,” said the worker.

As we all know, enmity exists between age differences, and above all, specifically between generations. We’ve been classified into various age groups, ranging from Baby Boomers (born between 1946 and 1965) to Generation Z (born between 1997 and 2012).

On many occasions, we see differences between generations, for example, a main one lies in how they use technology. However, a restaurant waitress showed that there are also differences when it comes to how they leave a table after eating at a restaurant. This is a battle between Boomers and Generation Z.

On the one hand, it’s always been known that Boomers, the older generation, believe that millennials and Gen Z are quite lazy and live connected to technology. On the other hand, young people tend to think that Boomers are closed-minded and out of touch.

That’s why Kaitlyn Brande’s video, which she posted on TikTok, somewhat tears down those generational stigmas. The 18-year-old waitress noted that while the Generation Z group left their table completely tidy, the Boomers had left it a mess.

We can see a clear difference as the group of young people from Generation Z made Kaitlyn’s job much easier by stacking their plates and consolidating their trash.

When asked by BuzzFeed media, the waitress commented on what happened by saying: “I posted it because I thought it was ironic since older people always expect respect.”

She went on: “I’m not saying I expect people to ever stack their plates like that, because hey, I’m a person too. I want to go out and eat and not worry about the dishes or anything. All I’m saying is it was cool and helpful of the younger people, and I appreciated it.”

We are faced this time with a situation that shows the differences between generations, however, this is what we must reflect on: What do we expect? Of course, there are an endless number of things that set us apart, because we were educated in totally different global contexts. This doesn’t mean we should say that one generation is better than another.

However, this time Generation Z gave their grandparents a little lesson. I leave you on that note…
