​​Vegan MasterChef contestant dropped out of the show after refusing to cook meat. He had no choice

Alex Lenghel is an athlete by profession, but a chef by passion. The young man originally from Romania was not only talented in sports but in the kitchen as well. He left everyone speechless with his tasty dishes. For this very reason, the young man was selected in the last season of the famous cooking show, MasterChef Romania.

At first the man combined his professional life with his talent in the kitchen, but what he couldn’t reconcile was his ethical values with those of the TV show. The young man, after losing the team round, had to head to an elimination duel with another partner, where they had to cook a piece of meat.

It turns out that Alex leads a healthy lifestyle, and one of his principles is to eat only plant-based foods, so he considers himself vegan. Upon seeing a piece of meat on the table, he simply shooed it away and refused to cook it. “I can’t cook meat when they’re killing animals just for pleasure,” Lenghel told the show’s jurors.

At first, people thought they’d change the elimination test between the two MasterChef contestants. However, the judges insisted that Alex had to cook the piece of steak in front of him no matter what.

“They should be more flexible with the ingredients they offer on MasterChef. Today there are tons of vegan foods that substitute for those that are animal-based.”

“Either cook or go home” was the final warning Alex received from the show’s judges. The athlete, because of moral values, preferred to take off the show’s iconic apron and leave it on the counter. Lenghel chose to lose the chance to win MasterChef before cooking something of animal origin
