You can see the Himalayas for the first time in 30 years. This is due to a decrease in pollution levels

In late March, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a 21-day lockdown to contain the spread of the coronavirus. There are already 4,789 infected cases and 124 deaths.

Thanks to the quarantine, pollution levels have drastically reduced throughout much of the country. Keeping 1.3 billion people in their homes has had its consequences.

La Junta Central de Contaminación de la India dice que ha habido una “mejora significativa en la calidad del aire”. Solo en Delhi, en general, hubo una reducción de hasta el 44 por ciento en PM10 del 22 al 23 de marzo de 2020 en comparación con el día anterior.

Según la Unidad de Inteligencia de Datos (DIU) de India Today del 16 al 27 de marzo, el índice de calidad del aire mejoró en un 33% en promedio en el país.

The India’s Central Pollution Board says that there has been a “significant improvement in air quality”. In Delhi alone, there was an overall reduction of up to 44% in PM10 from March 22 to 23, 2020 compared to the previous day.

According to India Today’s Data Intelligence Unit (DIU) from March 16 to 27, the air quality index improved by 33% on average in the country.

Several people in northern India have reported that they can now see the snow-capped Himalayas 200 kilometers away for the first time in 30 years.

On social media, users have resorted to all kinds of adjectives to describe the scene: fascinating, surprising, never-before seen. Jalandhar city residents were mesmerized.

People documented this spectacular incident and have flooded Twitter with images. Former cricketer, Harbhajan Singh, was among them.

Some even claim that this is the first time in several decades that the snow-capped mountains in Himachal Pradesh can be seen from Jalandhar.

Janishhar, Rajnish Sharma resident, told the Hindustan Times that when he went up to the rooftop he was amazed to see the mountain range peeking out from behind the clouds. He then called his family so they too could witness this incredible beauty of nature.
