Andrés Cantó, 20, used his anger to dig in the yard, and without expecting it, he started a project that makes him proud today. «It’s hard work. You dig a little bit in the wall and you get three buckets of dirt,» he told Huffington Post.
Many people would like to have their own space somewhere in the world, one that is unique and exclusive to distract themselves from any problems, noises or simply to enjoy their own company.
Andrés Cantó, for example, made the decision to create a space for himself after arguing with his parents in 2015. The 20-year-old from the city of Alicante (Spain) told the story via Twitter of how he built a cave starting that year in the garden of his house, and the progress has been very fruitful.

As he indicated in the post, the construction began on March 9, 2015, after having the discussion with his parents. «I was always walking around in sweats and worn-out shoes, and when I went to town, they would tell me to change, but I didn’t want to change. I got angry and so I started shoveling,» said Andrés to COPE.
Three years after starting his construction, he met Andreu, a friend who has helped him in the process. «I told him what I wanted to do in the hole, and before long he’d come over every afternoon with his motor scooter,» the young man explained in the publication.
Thanks to the collaboration of his partner, he was able to move faster in the cave and when he least expected it, he was already entering through the hole that ended up being the entrance. «That’s when I started thinking about more technical issues,» said Andrés on Twitter.

In addition to improving his physical condition, by 2019, he already had the first room of his cave ready. As he described it on the social network, it was a 2-meter vault to which he added adobe and stones for greater resistance and to give it a better shape. As if that weren’t enough, he also installed heating pipes to keep him warm in his new home.
The pandemic helped him to make more progress. He’s set up a pillar and has two rooms ready; one used for sleeping in the back and the first room to the right of the entrance.

«For now, it’s equipped with wifi, light, ‘heating’ and stereo with cassettes,» Andrés detailed on Twitter. All this was achieved thanks to his hard work, Andreu, and his tools: a pickaxe and a chisel hooked to a digging stick, as he explained in the publication.
What in the beginning was a simple hole is now a whole underground world. Currently, Andrés continues to expand his cave and it’s even certified by the local municipality.

«It’s hard work, you dig a little in the wall and you get three buckets of dirt. We don’t need a gym. The physical change is insane. Besides, it’s a sauna down there because no air runs through it and it’s very hot,» Andrés told Huffington Post. This case proves that anger can be harnessed into something productive.
