In an extreme act of violence due to jealousy and suspicion, 38 year Marisa de Souza Pereira old was brutally murdered by her husband, Etevaldo de Oliveira in São Paulo, Brazil. Security cameras caught the merciless moment Marisa tried to run from her assailant after an argument inside their vehicle. Despite her best efforts to save herself by running towards a drugstore for shelter, her husband caught her and attacked her in front of many witnesses, ending her life.
After the homicide, the attacker tried to flee, but he was caught and stopped by passersby until military police arrived. Marisa, unfortunately, died on the spot due to the severity of her injuries. The crime has left a terrible family tragedy in its wake, because the couple had three daughter – ages 16, 6 and a toddler – that now have been orphaned because of this act of domestic violence that, according to witnesses, Marisa had been suffering for a while.
In court, the man was processed and he confessed to his actions reasoning he had been betrayed. Currently the culprit is facing criminal charges for his actions and will have to serve a sentence of 16 years for his crimes. This case highlights the severity of violence against women and the devastating impact sexism and possessive jealousy has in families.
