35-year-old Eilish McColgan demonstrated remarkable resilience during the London Marathon, finishing in seventh place despite a serious injury.

The runner from Dundee reported that halfway through the race, she felt a sharp, explosive pain in her right foot caused by a deep laceration on one of her toes. Images taken after the race showed her Asics shoes and socks completely soaked in blood due to the severity of the skin injury.

Despite the intense pain, the athlete crossed the finish line with a time of 2 hours and 24 minutes and was then treated by the event’s medical team. McColgan ruled out that the problem was caused by new or ill-fitting shoes.
