In a recent interview to promote her new album “Psy Opera,” singer Grimes—who lives closely aligned with technology—offered a warning about the future of AI.
For her, AI is not a game, and she stated that it is the most dangerous thing that will ever happen. However, she argues that distancing ourselves from it is not a solution.
“It would be good for people to get involved, because we end up with less safe labs precisely because people don’t want to participate,” she said.
The former partner of Elon Musk also criticized the mysticism of Silicon Valley, where developers claim to be “creating gods.” She argues that saying we are creating gods is a way of underestimating human intelligence, since humans are the ones who create AI.
“Human life is very fragile and time is very long. But I would hope that, if we have a good relationship with AI, they will take our DNA and make more of us when conditions are more hospitable,” she concluded.
