Douglas Sosa, father of Brazilian soccer player Endrick, described how difficult it was to raise him due to the financial hardships they faced: “I remember once when I was sitting on the couch and he said, ‘Dad, I want to eat.’ And there was nothing in the fridge, nothing in the cupboard.”

Despite the sadness of the story, Douglas never forgot that moment because of the promise his son made to him: “I started crying, and he cried. Then he came up to me and said, ‘Dad, don’t worry, I’m going to be a soccer player and I’m going to get us out of this hardship.’”

Several years later, and despite the difficulties, Endrick kept his word and made it to the first team at Palmeiras, where he began to shine at a very young age. The soccer player was now able to help his family just as he had promised when he was a child, but his journey was far from over.

His strong performance in the Brazilian league, along with several goals, led to his debut with the national team and attracted interest from multiple European clubs, but it was one team that managed to sign him as their new star: Real Madrid.

It was at that presentation that his father could not contain his emotion and was moved to tears, recalling the day when a young Endrick promised he would lift them out of poverty and more than delivered on that promise, eventually signing with one of the world’s most prestigious clubs through sheer talent and hard work.
