Giving up her life wasn’t asking much, if it meant saving her children’s lives. A love that knows no bounds.
I think we all have a story about a time when our mothers became our heroes. Whether it was because they found the strength to pull us to safety from danger, or perhaps because they stayed up all night watching over us when we had a fever.
In the animal world, it’s no different; caring for one’s young is more than just instinctive—it comes from the bottom of the heart.

One example of this is a mother duck who wasn’t afraid to stand up to a snake. Using her beak and feet, she fought tirelessly to prevent the predator from taking her ducklings.
Unfortunately, once all her ducklings had escaped, she realized her strength wouldn’t be enough.
This is how the heartbreaking video shared by Sudha Ramen IFS on Twitter ends, with a mother wrapped by the snake in its nest. Although it looks painful, it’s a clear message of what our mothers would do for us without hesitation.
They risk their lives just to know that we’re willing to grow; unfortunately, she won’t be able to walk the rest of the way with them, but she knows she still has a path ahead of her.

Watching this video will likely move you, but it will also fill you with admiration. If you’re a mother, you’ll probably relate to it, and if you’re a child, you’ll learn to appreciate her even more. So go give that woman who gave you everything a hug while you still have the chance, because life is unpredictable and you never know what might happen.
Although it pains us to know that this happens in nature, it’s hard to watch because in that situation, either the chicks or the mother were suffering.
It seems this type of snake was a constrictor, as it can be seen slowly wrapping itself around the mother duck before eating her. Even though she knew she couldn’t win, this brave duck fought to the very end, despite having no claws or anything else to help her.
We would have liked the person who recorded the video to have intervened, but that would have been like interfering with a natural process—like saving an antelope from a lion, for example.
It’s these snakes’ job to hunt; that’s how they feed themselves so they don’t starve. As much as it pains us, there was nothing we could do—it’s possible the footage was captured by a drone, so it might have been far away anyway.

We certainly commend that mother for her great courage, and we hope that all her children will live long lives.
