The Civil Guard is investigating a person in Almería for selling items made from protected species, including two rugs made from lion skin—a male and a female—and their respective heads.

The case was uncovered after online ads and led to a search in which they found an illegal collection of taxidermied wildlife and exotic pieces without documentation. Among the items seized were ivory, stools made from elephant feet, and remains of pumas, leopards, zebras, hyenas, and apes.

The value of the pieces exceeds 16,000 dollars. The case has renewed alarms over illegal wildlife trafficking and the online sale of protected species.
