A shocking case shook Cumbria in May 2021, when Jeanette Shields, a 70-year-old woman, died weeks after a serious incident at Cumberland Infirmary hospital in Carlisle.

It all began after a routine operation for gallstones, but when she tried to go to the bathroom without assistance, she fell and fractured her hip. Days later, during surgery to repair it, her family claims she was “dropped” from the operating table.

From that moment on, her condition worsened until she passed away six weeks later. The case sparked outrage and led to an investigation to determine what really happened.
