One of the most talked-about moments of the 2026 World Cup did not happen on the field, but in the stands. During the opening match between Mexico and South Africa, a video captured a fan who was in an area for people with disabilities standing up from his wheelchair to take a photograph, sparking a wave of reactions online.

In the footage, some attendees can even be heard shouting “”A miracle, he can walk now!””, while the man remains standing for a few seconds before sitting back down. The images quickly went viral and gave rise to all kinds of comments and jokes on social media.

However, many people asked others to avoid jumping to conclusions. They pointed out that not all disabilities prevent someone from standing up or walking for brief moments, and that there are multiple medical conditions that require the use of a wheelchair without meaning absolute immobility.

Thus, what began as a curious video ended up turning into a debate about accessibility, prejudice, and the importance of not judging a situation solely by appearances.
