There are images that remain etched in a country’s memory, and one of them resurfaced 16 years later.

Following Spain’s victory at the 2026 World Cup, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía starred in an emotional snapshot alongside the World Cup trophy, recalling an image from 2010, when both were children and Spain celebrated its first world title.

This time, the sisters attended the decisive match played at MetLife Stadium with their parents, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, and were able to experience another Spanish triumph up close.

The comparison between the two photographs quickly drew attention on social media: in the first, they appear as children discovering the glory of a World Cup; in the second, now grown up, they are once again beside the trophy that represents another historic chapter for Spain.

Beyond the royal family, many users highlighted the symbolic value of the scene: two generations, the same jersey, and a World Cup trophy that once again brings together a national celebration.

An image that shows that in football, some moments can be repeated… even if the people are no longer the same.
