Mexico’s 2-0 win over South Africa in its 2026 World Cup debut not only brought celebration on the field, but also a viral phenomenon in the stands that quickly took over social media.

Among the thousands of fans in attendance, two Mexican supporters drew attention after appearing in videos that began circulating widely on digital platforms. In one of those clips, a brief wardrobe incident involving one of them caught the curiosity of internet users, turning the moment into a topic of conversation outside the stadium.

With the content going viral, the identity of one of the protagonists also began circulating on social media. She is reportedly known as Olivia Bethel on digital platforms and presents herself as a content creator on subscription-based social networks, while also remaining active on Instagram under the username @thehtowngirl.

However, as the hours passed, it also became clear that the video would not necessarily correspond to the World Cup opening match, but rather may have been recorded at another sporting event, although its spread on social media ended up associating it with Mexico’s debut anyway.

Beyond the origin of the footage, the moment ended up turning the fans into a trending topic, once again showing how any instant captured in a stadium can go viral in a matter of minutes.
