The film world is in mourning following confirmation of the death of Kaylee Hottle, the young actress who won over audiences by playing Jia in the films Godzilla vs. Kongand Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

The actress, just 18 years old, died on the morning of July 21 after being involved in a car accident in Frederick, Maryland. The news was confirmed by her father, Joshua Hottle, who shared an emotional message on Facebook using sign language.

Kaylee came from a family with four generations of deaf people and became a symbol of representation for the community. Her portrayal of Jia, a girl who communicated with Kong through sign language, was widely praised by critics and her castmates. In fact, she received a Saturn Award nomination for her performance.

After the news became known, the Texas School for the Deaf, where she studied, expressed its deep sorrow and asked for respect for the family during this difficult time. Thousands of fans also began saying goodbye to her on social media, remembering the immense affection she inspired with her character.

Although her career was just beginning, Kaylee left an indelible mark on the industry and on millions of people who saw in her an example of talent, perseverance, and representation.
