For many Argentine fans, the dream of traveling to the 2026 World Cup came to an abrupt end when U.S. authorities rejected their visa applications. However, what seemed like a huge disappointment took an unexpected turn.

A company decided to reward the first 100 people who could prove they had received a denial in their application process by giving them a television so they could at least follow the matches from home.

Among the beneficiaries was Tomás Vageller, a young fan who had started the process hoping to see Lionel Messi play in what many believe could be his last World Cup. Although he will not be able to cheer from the stands, he left with a gift under his arm and a story that quickly went viral.

The initiative was widely discussed on social media, where many pointed out that, while nothing replaces the experience of living a World Cup in person, the gesture managed to turn bad news into a moment of joy for dozens of fans.
