Fans were expecting to see football’s biggest stars during the Champions League final, but the one who ended up stealing some of the spotlight was a much more unexpected figure: Yassine Cheuko, Lionel Messi’s famous bodyguard.
It all happened during a live TNT Sports Brasil broadcast before the match between PSG and Arsenal. In the middle of the program, Cheuko appeared in front of the cameras and, after exchanging a few words with the hosts, did something that left those present stunned: he lifted journalist Vitor Sérgio Rodrigues onto his shoulder and carried him off the set as if it were nothing. One of the panelists’ reaction summed up the general bewilderment: “What is he doing? My God”.
The moment sparked laughter among those present, but also a real explosion on social media. Thousands of users shared the video and commented on how easily the bodyguard carried the reporter, turning the scene into one of the most talked-about moments in the lead-up to the final.
Cheuko has become quite a celebrity since he began protecting Messi. His constant presence alongside the Argentine star and his striking interventions against pitch invaders have turned him into a figure almost as recognizable as some footballers.
