During the match between South Africa and Canada, the cameras focused on fans doing the classic wave in the stands. To make it even more spectacular, the broadcast decided to show the sequence in slow motion.
Everything was going perfectly… until a small accident happened.
While raising her arms to follow the wave, one of the fans dropped her cellphone, which was captured slowly descending before millions of viewers.
The scene lasted only a few seconds, but it was enough for social media to erupt in laughter.
“I wasn’t expecting the cellphone to be the star”, wrote one user. Another commented: “Thanks for everything, World Cup 2026”. There were even those who dubbed the moment “the worst wave in history”.
Although nothing serious happened, the clip is already circulating across different platforms and became one of the most charming videos the tournament has produced.
